Is the SDI Advanced Diver Program Right for You?
This program is designed for certified divers who want more than a collection of experience dives. You will complete full specialty courses that help you build the knowledge, judgment, and in-water skills needed for more challenging diving.
- Scuba Adventures Open Water Divers who have already completed Computer Nitrox
- Certified Open Water Divers who want to improve their skills and expand the types of diving they can safely enjoy
- Divers preparing for more advanced environments, destinations, or continuing education
- Advanced Adventure divers who want to turn introductory specialty dives into complete specialty certifications
Course Prerequisites
Junior divers may only participate in specialties permitted for their age.
- SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, SDI Junior Open Water Scuba Diver, or equivalent certification
- Minimum age 18, or age 10 with parental consent
- Ability to meet the prerequisites for each selected specialty course
What You Will Learn
You will complete detailed academic and practical training in four qualifying SDI, TDI, or ERDI sport-level specialties.
Your specific knowledge and in-water skills will depend on the specialties you select, allowing you to build a development plan around the diving you want to do.

How Your Training Is Scheduled
- Purchase your Advanced Diver package
- Complete the assigned SDI eLearning
- Contact Scuba Adventures when your online work is complete
- We coordinate your required classroom, pool, and open-water sessions
- You may join an already scheduled specialty class or train with an instructor who is already at the open-water site
SDI Advanced Diver Certification Requirements
- Complete four qualifying SDI, TDI, or ERDI Specialty Diver courses or their recognized equivalents.
- Only one course without dives may normally be credited toward the SDI Advanced Diver Development Program, with the exception of SDI Computer Nitrox.
- Provide proof of at least 25 logged dives.
- After the requirements have been completed and verified, an instructor will process the SDI Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
The SDI Junior Advanced Diver certification follows the same general requirements, provided all four selected specialty courses are permitted for the junior diver’s age.

Because this is a flexible development program rather than one class that everyone must attend together. Once your online academics are complete, we can place you into upcoming specialty sessions or coordinate training with an available instructor.
