SDI Solo Diver
SDI Solo Diver — Self-Reliance, Planning, and Redundancy
At one point or another, many divers have found themselves alone during a dive—whether it was intentional or not. SDI Solo Diver develops the skills and judgment for self-reliant scuba diving without a traditional “dive buddy.”
Rather than leaning on the buddy system as your primary safety control, solo diving requires conservative decision-making, strong situational awareness, and a willingness to take full responsibility for your planning, equipment, and execution. This course is built around those realities.
- Proper dive planning and conservative limits
- Personal responsibility and self-sufficiency
- Accident prevention through redundancy and procedure
- Benefits, hazards, and best-practice solo protocols
- Underwater photography and video divers
- Divers who want higher self-reliance and calmer execution
- Diving with children or less-experienced buddies (as the “stable anchor”)
- Minimum age: 21
- Certified SDI Advanced Diver (or equivalent)
- Provide proof of 100 logged dives
- Be prepared to use and configure required redundant equipment
