Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB) Workshop

Want to feel more comfortable and confident deploying a DSMB? This workshop is designed to help divers safely and effectively launch surface marker buoys from depth while improving control, awareness, and equipment familiarity.

We’ll spend time working with different DSMB styles, spool and reel configurations, inflation methods, and deployment techniques so divers can better understand what works best for their diving style and environment.

What We’ll Cover

  • Proper DSMB deployment procedures from depth
  • Working with spools, reels, and different line management approaches
  • Comparing open-bottom, closed, and hybrid DSMB designs
  • Inflation methods and buoyancy awareness during deployment
  • Techniques for improving control, safety, and situational awareness

This workshop is ideal for divers looking to build confidence with DSMB use in a practical, low-pressure environment.
